Denotation, Connotation and Implication

again again and again I will share useful knowledge "maybe" hehehe...
Happy reading and may be familiar with its contents.

Denotation is a translation of a sign to its meaning, precisely to its literal meaning, more or less like dictionaries try to define it. Denotation is sometimes contrasted toconnotation, which translates a sign to meanings associated with it.
example:Example one.The denotation of this example is a red rose with a green stem. The connotation is that it is a symbol of passion and love – this is what the rose represents.

Connotation  is a commonly understood cultural or emotional association that some word or phrase carries, in addition to the word's or phrase's explicit or literal meaning, which is its denotation.
A connotation is frequently described as either positive or negative, with regards to its pleasing or displeasing emotional connection. For example, a stubborn person may be described as being either strong-willed or pig-headed; although these have the same literal meaning (stubborn), strong-willed connotes admiration for the level of someone's will (a positive connotation), while pig-headed connotes frustration in dealing with someone (a negative connotation).

Implication  is a logical operation. It takes two arguments. It returns false, if and only if the first term is true, and the second term is false.
This may be problematic, because it means that from a false proposition, anything can follow.
example:
All humans are mortal (they die).Aristotle is humanTherefore Aristotle is mortal.
sorry for short post in this season because just it what I know. I hope the readers can take what is good and bad beg his criticism. Thanks for reading and always willing to monitor my blog, I hope next time I am more able to provide more science.
bye...bye...

Euphemism

Assalamualaikum, again and again I will share knowledge that may be very useful for readers. Yuhu😀 long time do not just sign up to the core. I hope you can understand.

WHAT IS EUPHEMISM???
Euphemism is an idiomatic expression which loses its literal meanings and refers to something else in order to hideits unpleasantness.
For example, “kick the bucket” is a euphemism that describes the death of a person.

Euphemism depends largely on the social context of the speakers and writers where they feel the need to replace certain words which may prove embarrassing for particular listeners or readers in a particular situation.

"Techniques for Creating Euphemism"
Euphemism masks a rude or impolite expression but conveys the concept clearly and politely. Several techniques are employed to create euphemism. It may be in the form of abbreviations e.g. B.O. (body odor), W.C. (toilet) etc.Foreign words may be used to replace an impolite expression e.g. faux (fake), or faux pas (foolish error) etc.Sometimes, they are abstractions e.g. before I go (before I die).
Euphemism is frequently used in everyday life. Let us look at some common euphemism examples:
*You are becoming a little thin on top (bald).
* Our teacher is in the family way (pregnant).
* He is always tired and emotional (drunk).
* We do not hire mentally challenged (stupid) people.
* He is a special child (disabled or retarded).

"Examples of Euphemism in Literature"
1* Examples of euphemism referring to sex are found in William Shakespeare ’s “ Othello” and “ Antony and Cleopatra ”. In “ Othello”, Act 1 Scene 1, Iago tells Brabantio: “I am one, sir, that comes to tell you your daughter and the Moor are now making the beast with two backs.”

2* John Donne in his poem “ The Flea ” employs euphemism. He says:“Mark but this flea, and mark in this,How little that which thou denies me is;It suck’d me first, and now sucks thee, and in this flea our two bloods mingled be.Thou know’st that this cannot be saidA sin, nor shame, nor loss of maidenhead;Yet this enjoys before it woo,And pamper’d swells with one blood made of two;And this, alas! is more than we would do.”In order to persuade his beloved to sleep with him, the speaker in the poem tells her how a flea bit both of them and their blood got mixed in it. This is a euphemism.

so that I can convey may be useful. thanks to the readers 😄😊😀

Symbol and referent

Assalamualaikum, meet again with my blog, but this post I will not talk about life again but the knowledge that it may be beneficial to your readers. but do not worry if there is time again I would definitely write about my life anymore. so many strings attached, let's continue reading 😊👍

What is semantic?
Semantics is the study of meaning. It is a wide subject within the general study of language. An understanding of semantics is essential to the study oflanguage acquisition (how language users acquire a sense of meaning, as speakers and writers, listeners and readers) and oflanguage change (how meanings alter overtime). It is important for understandinglanguage in social contexts, as these are likely to affect meaning, and for understanding varieties of English and effects of style.

Some important areas of semantic theory or related subjects include these:
*Symbol and referent.
*Denotation, connotation, implication.
*Pragmatics.
*Ambiguity.
*Metaphor, simile and symbol.

in this session I will discuss about symbol and referent.

Symbol and referent?
These terms may clarify the subject. Asymbolis something which we use to represent another thing - it might be a picture, a letter, a spoken or written word - anything we use conventionally for the purpose. The thing that the symbol identifies is thereferent. This may sometimes be an object in the physical world (the word Roveris the symbol; a real dog is the referent). But it may be something which is not at all, or not obviously, present - likefreedom, unicorns or Hamlet.

All the science that I can convey hopefully useful to the readers of the faithful. Thank you and may be met in another story.😀😄
